American Goldfinch

I just had to post this photo that Jessica (11) took of a goldfinch out by our bird feeder. What an awesome shot!

And here's a bunny we saw next door. I tried to get a good shot but he turned away and scampered off. A crow was chasing him.

Fox Sparrow

We just love this little bird -- the Fox Sparrow! It is so fun to watch as it scratches/hops along the ground. It also has a lovely song!

Mourning Dove

This is a photo we took yesterday in our yard. We thought at first that it was the Willow Ptarmigan sporting its summer plumage. When we downloaded our pics and checked it out, we realized it was a Mourning Dove. According to the information we read, they aren't even supposed to be in Newfoundland, but we know there's at least ONE! :-)

Squirrel

We got a few pics of a squirrel on a snow bank by our house.

We also caught a Squirrel munching on a berry from one of our trees. I love the way his nose looks.

looking up

More books from the library, I find so many facts from books. a couple weeks ago I got a Guinness world records book from the library and there was a picture of a red wood tree over twice the height of the Statue of Liberty, it would be a sight to see.

Fooled ya

We got a book from Scholastic about Rocks and Minerels and I was just reading it, and now I know what Fools gold is, it's actually called Pyrite, and I think it looks like a golden diamond up close.
