Yesterday Was Cold-ish.

On Sunday, me, Timothy, and my mom went for a walk late afternoon. It was pretty cold while we walked down by the bay, but once we got up on Main Street it started to snow and got really cold outside. So we walked all the way back on Bayview Road instead. It was more cold though i think :

Fall must be over

We've been having some very windy days lately; and almost all of the leaves on the tress are gone. I hope we get lots of snow soon because I love winter!

Why winter is better than fall.

I think winter is better than fall because there is always something to do outdoors in winter. For instance; Snowboarding, sliding, fortbuilding, snowball fights, skating, hockey, and more that i can't think of. Fall is just looking and jumping in leaves. UGH. Well, and hiking in the fall is pretty awsome. But overall winter is the best. Oh did i mention SNOWMOBILING! Haha I love going out on ski-doo, it's so much fun. Anyways this post was pretty much randomness, i have to do it as part of my school. Hope you kinda enjoyed it? :P

Autumn poem

AY, thou art welcome, heaven's delicious breath!
When woods begin to wear the crimson leaf,
And suns grow meek, and the meek suns grow brief
And the year smiles as it draws near its death.
Wind of the sunny south! oh, still delay
In the gay woods and in the golden air,
Like to a good old age released from care,
Journeying, in long serenity, away.
In such a bright, late quiet, would that I
Might wear out life like thee, 'mid bowers and brooks
And dearer yet, the sunshine of kind looks,
And music of kind voices ever nigh;
And when my last sand twinkled in the glass,
Pass silently from men, as thou dost pass.

It's fall here, summer there!

We are having pretty cold weather here in Springdale, but where my aunt lives in Ontario they are still having 30+ degrees weather!! The highest temperature our whole summer might have been 34 degrees? It has been like 10 degrees or below since September.

Jellyfish

Yesterday we went to Goodyear's Cove to the beach. We saw a jellyfish swimming in the water. It would fold it's body in and then push out and swim forward. It looked like a cloth in a bathtub. It was the first time I saw a real live jellyfish. It was a about the size of a dinner plate. It was really cool! ☺

We also ate ice cream after and had a lot of fun.

A Sweet Saturday.

Saturday is awsome. I got to sleep in this morning, and as soon as I woke up it was so bright out. It seems like it'll be a good day. But the weatherman says it's only supposed to be 16 degrees. Still it's better than 8 degrees on Thursday.

very windy days

On Wednesday and Thursday /September 12-13 morning it was very windy. It was too windy for the birds to even come to our bird feeder. My dad thought that our little trees were going to snap off, so he tied them on to some metal poles.

We have an injured bird...

Poor little guy (or girl) was sleeping on a tree branch by our bird feeder. Benjamin called me to take a picture but I couldn't find my camera. We were so close to the bird and I was able to reach out and hold it. It didn't move but sat still in my hands. I laid it on the ground and it hopped a bit and tried to fly.

Found my camera and snapped a few pics.

I picked it up again when I realized that its wing was hurt. It nipped at my hand a bit and chirped a bit.

When I put it down again, it hopped/flew to the road and stopped in the middle of the road and tucked its head under its wing again. Well, we couldn't let it sleep in the road, so I picked it up and put it on the grass under our tree - near the bird feeder. It promptly tucked its head under its wing again and went to sleep.

After about an hour, it was still sleeping under the tree. I realized that if it stayed there all night, it would probably be cold and would not survive. Jessica and I fashioned a "cage" out of a milk crate. We put some grass/weeds in there and also put in a twig. Jessica shelled a few sunflower seeds and put them in a dish for the bird. I picked the bird up and put it in the cage, and moved it into the laundry room. It's sleeping now. Hopefully the little thing will survive until morning. We are hoping its wing is merely sprained and not broken. A night of rest should do the trick!

Flowers

Devin has been trying out the macro feature on our camera. Here are some flower shots he has taken. Some are in our garden and the others are wildflowers.

Daisies are one of my favorite flowers!

Orange Hawkweed -- also know as "Devil's Paintbrush".

Not sure of the name of this one.

I've always loved climbing trees, and when we went to Bowring park that day there were trees everywhere! I was so happy and I probably climbed 20 trees that day. Whenever I try to climb a tree I always say to myself, Get creative, If you can't do it one way there has to be another way.

Bowring Park

We went to Bowring Park on Monday. We always love to visit it whenever we're in St. John's. Well, we're walking through to get to the duck pond, and we see two teenagers walking towards us -- one with a brightly colored parrot and one holding a skink. The teens let our kids pet and hold the skink. I even held it! Very cool :-)

I love seeing animals up-close and personal!

Yellow Rumped Warbler

I was hiking through the woods near my house and I wanted to bring a camera with me. So i eventually met up with a couple yellow rumped warblers, unfortunatly i didn't get very many close up shots of them. I think this is the best photo I have.

Moose On The Loose!

April 30, 2007, a day to remember. It was around 5:30 P.M. And I was busy watching television. I saw something walking down our street that looked very odd, so I opened up the blinds and saw that there were 3 big moose walking down our lane! I screamed to everybody in the house to look outside and see them. Unforntunatly I wasn't able to get a photo of them walking down our lane, but we did chase ater them and get a few pics of them roaming through the town. enjoy!
